Kitchen Range Maintenance Checklist for Residents in Naples, Ft Myers, and Charlotte County, FL

When well maintained, kitchen ranges have the potential to last 15-20 years. To get the most out of your range, we put together a checklist for you to follow.

Clean Stove Top
Cleaning your stove top is not as daunting as it may seem and can actually take under 10 minutes each week to complete. Prep a sink full of hot soapy water and drop in the grates, knobs, and drip pans (for electric ranges). After about a minute, take the knobs out to keep any markings from coming off. While everything else soaks, spray an all-purpose cleaner on the surface of the stove top. Before wiping dry, let the spray sit for a couple of minutes to make it easier to clean up tough grease and grime. If any spots or stains are left on your grates or pans, use a heavy-duty scrubber. Rinse, dry, and place on the stovetop along with knobs.

Clean Inside Oven
Many modern ovens have a convenient self-cleaning function. In that case, make sure to read the owner’s manual and do not leave the house before the cleaning is completed. If there is any residue leftover after the self-cleaning process, wipe clean with a damp cloth. If your oven doesn’t have a self-cleaning option, there is a cleaning method you can use. Place a heat-safe glass dish with 1-2 cups of ammonia on the middle rack and another dish with 2 cups of boiling water on the bottom rack. Close the door and leave overnight. In the morning, make sure to remove the dishes and wipe down the inside with a hot wet sponge. We recommend you make this a part of your monthly cleaning routine.

Clean Range Hood Filters
It is important to regularly clean these filters to keep your range hood collecting grease like it should. Once you get the filter removed, it is an easy cleaning process. Soak it in hot water with a mixture of dish soap and baking soda before scrubbing it with a gentle brush. Make sure it is fully dried off before putting it back in place.
